US Company interested in setting up a tech city in KP

A billion-dollar tech company from the US, Affiniti, is interested in setting up a technology city in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. CEO Zia Chishti during a discussion on IT investment made an offer to Chief Minister Mahmood Khan.

Zia Chishti is a Pakistani-American investor and founder of Affiniti and TRG Global, and he expressed his interest in investing in Technology city at a suitable location in KP.

He said the proposed Tech City would initially provide employment to 10,000 to 15,000 people from IT-related boys.

He said that overall, the project would create massive opportunities for Pakistan’s IT graduates through the project.

CM offered his full support to the company helping set up the project.

It was decided that a joint team comprising of people from the provincial government and Afiniti would be formed to identify a suitable site for the setting up of the proposed tech city.

Chief Minister Mahmood Khan said, “the provincial government was taking result-oriented steps under well devise strategy to provide maximum employment opportunities to the people by attracting maximum private investment to the province adding that his government was focusing on ease of doing business to facilitate foreign and local investors and all the required facilities/services were being provided to the investors under one roof through one window facilitation service.”

During the meeting, KP cabinet members Taimur Saleem Jhagra, Akbar Ayub Khan, Kamran Bangash, Additional Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir, and other relevant officials were present.

In July of 2020, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) Information Technology Board (KPITB) set up the first digital city of Pakistan in Haripur. Many large tech companies from China, such as Oppo and Haier had shown keen interest in the extensive project.
